Manifesting Destiny Returns!
In 2016, my young adult novel Manifesting Destiny was published by… a small publisher. It did fairly well on release, actually, although I didn’t love the way they formatted the paperback. And then I also couldn’t get local bookstores to carry the paperback because the publisher used Amazon to create it, and many bookstores don’t want to sell products made by the giant that is squashing them. I understood, though it still felt bad that I was being punished, in a way, for something I had no control over.
Manifesting Destiny was meant to be the first book in a trilogy, but my life got complicated and the publisher really never followed up on further volumes in the series. I mean, never once asked where I was with the second book. Showed zero interest. And I kind of need to know people are interested in order to stay motivated. I recognize that as a personal failing; writing should be considered its own reward and all that. But at some point, if you’re only doing it for yourself, it starts to feel selfish. Like you should be doing a million other things that are more productive and necessary: laundry, errands, whatever.
So, yeah, I got about a third of the way into writing the second book (which is called The Great Divide) before abandoning it and moving on to other projects. And eventually the publishing contract ended and I got the rights back to Manifesting Destiny, and so…

Manifesting Destiny, the first book in the Changers series, will be re-released on November 4. Right now only in ebook format on Amazon, but if there is enough interest, I will release it more widely later. I need to hear from readers on where they buy their books and in what format(s)!

And yes, I am now back to work on the sequel, The Great Divide, which is slated for release on July 28, 2026. Read about Changers here.
